I am trained in many different types of therapy which I can be include in my sessions with you:

           * cognitive and behavioural therapies (focusing on the way people think and behave)

           * psychoanalytic therapies (looking at how past experiences affect the present)

           * humanistic therapies (with a focus on self-development and growth)

           * other therapies (such as group therapies and mindfulness).

My area of expertise is in helping our senior citizens as they cope with the stresses of moving into a retirement village or into care. That can include loss of friends, loss of family history, loss of independence. It can also include grief over the losses of a partner, a lifestyle, a neighbourhood or a pet. There may be a great deal of anxiety and stress associated with the move. There may be feelings of depression and even fear of the unknown.

All these feelings are natural and I would love to work with you or your family member to find ways of overcoming them and moving forward with this new stage of life. As with all Psychotherapists/ Counsellors I like to meet with clients on a regular basis (usually once a week) and I suggest that at least three sessions will be needed to help people confidently move forward.

I like to meet with people in their own homes because that is the place where they feel safe. For some, that offers peace of mind and a sense of safety. If you would prefer an office setting, one can be arranged.
